🛂 Visa & Entry Requirements
- Visa: All international visitors (except from India, Bangladesh, and the Maldives) require a visa to enter Bhutan.
- Process: Visas must be arranged in advance through a licensed Bhutanese tour operator or their international partners.
- Tourism Levy: Bhutan charges a Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) that supports conservation and community development.
Getting to Bhutan
- International Flights: The only international airport is Paro International Airport, with connections from cities like Bangkok, Delhi, Kathmandu, and Singapore.
- Domestic Travel: From Paro, participants can travel to Trashigang District via domestic flights to Yonphula Airport or by road.
- Race Location: The Yeti Run takes place in Merak Valley, within the Sakteng region — a remote highland known for its nomadic yak herders and folklore.
Accommodations
- Local Guesthouses: Traditional Bhutanese homestays and guesthouses in Trashigang and Merak offer authentic experiences.
- Hotels: Limited mid-range hotels are available in Trashigang town.
- Camping Options: For adventurous participants, race organizers may provide camping facilities closer to the course.
Cultural Etiquette
- Respect Traditions: Bhutanese culture is deeply spiritual. Show respect at temples, monasteries, and sacred sites.
- Dress Modestly: Avoid revealing clothing; long sleeves and trousers are recommended in rural areas.
- Photography: Always ask permission before photographing people, especially monks or nomadic families.
- Environmental Care: Bhutan values sustainability — avoid littering and follow eco-friendly race practices.
🏃 Race Essentials
- Packet Pickup: 8 May 2026 at Merak Community Hall.
- Race Day: 9 May 2026 — shuttle services will be available from Trashigang to Merak.
- Gear Reminder: Headlamp, reusable cup, whistle, emergency blanket, and trail shoes suitable for snowy terrain.
